The Livets Ord church in Sweden is planning to bombard Islamic terrorist group ISIS with electronic bibles, which will be delivered by drones.
Drone warfare is one of the most debated ethical arguments in 21st century, and we believe the line just got a whole lot more confusing. Livets Ord, a Swedish Christian church, has announced its plans to drop electronic bibles on ISIS throughout captured territories by way of drones.
Christian Ã…kerhielm, the church’s mission director, informed Swedish broadcaster SVT that it would hire a contractor to carry out the operation, though he stopped short of mentioning how many drones would see operation, nor which areas would be targeted or even how many bibles would be distributed.

Ã…kerhielm, speaking on behalf of Livets Ord, drew comparison between the delivery of electronic bibles to the “traditional smuggling of Bibles.“ Historically, the Bible has been distributed into territories by missionaries fulfilling a similiar goal – another modern parralel is the delivery of the good book into North Korea, which often takes place through giant balloons.
In a recent service, the church distributed a photo depicting a consumer drone – what appears to be a Phantom DJI 4 – hovering above assembled churchgoers.
Speaking on the electronic bibles themselves, Ã…kerhielm stated that “œThe Bibles are the size of pill boxes and have a display. They require no electricity but work on their own“ – leaving us to speculate that Livet Ords intends to distribute a small e-reader. It’s presently unknown whether the device will depict the Bible in English, Swedish, or Arabic.
On a message feature on its homepage, Livet Ords offered that “œOur ambition is to pass on the hope and love of the Christian gospel to a population living in closed areas where they are being denied human rights.”
