After a long wait, both new Facebook and Messenger apps have arrived on the Windows 10 Store, with Instagram arriving on Windows 10 Mobile.
If there’s any company likely to kickstart some life into Microsoft’s barren store, it’s probably the largest social network on the planet. Today, new Facebook and Messenger apps arrived on Windows 10 as universal apps, with Instagram finally leaving beta on Windows 10 mobile.
Facebook and Messenger have been expected to arrive on the platform since Mark Zuckerberg’s presence at Microsoft’s October event last year, while Instagram has been in beta on Windows Phone for years now.

The arrival of Facebook’s core app suite signal a new – and perhaps surprising – interest in the platform from the social network.
Facebook’s new Windows 10 app supports several new features, such as Live Tiles, Notifications, Direct Messaging, video and more. So far, there has been no clarity from the social network has to whether we can expect to see its new apps on Windows 10 Mobile, or see Instagram make the leap up from Windows Phone.
The news is a breath of fresh air to Microsoft’s desktop and tablet operating system ahead of its upcoming Anniversary update, which is expected to introduce new stylus-centric features as the company moves to integrate styli as a natural means of input throughout the operating system.
All three apps – Instagram, Facebook and Messenger – are available from the Windows 10 store today, while Microsoft has teased that “œmore great experiences from Facebook will be coming to Windows 10 mobile soon”.
