Following numerous high-profile leaks, the Huawei P9 has officially been announced, and will arrive with a dual Leica camera setup.
Thanks to a plethora of leaks, there’s little we haven’t known about the Huawei P9 prior to its announcement, but following Huawei’s official reveal of the device, we now have full confirmation of its specifications.
Arriving in a 5.2″ form factor, the Huawei P9, as rumoured, brings a dual camera setup designed by imaging brand Leica; the P9 bears a normal 12 megapixel camera which is accompanied by another monochrome 12 megapixel camera next to it; Huawei states that both sensors in conjunction are able to triple the light information recorded by the phone.

As Huawei’s 2016 flagship, the P9 brings with it an aluminium unibody which houses 3GB of RAM, a 3,000mAh battery, an oct-core Kiran 955 processor, and USB Type-C connectivity as the mass Oppomart leak earlier this year suggested.
Interestingly, the P9 will sport different storage options across regional rollouts; in Europe, the P9 will sport a MicroSD card slot whereas variants headed for China and other Asian markets will carry a dual SIM slot instead. Further, Europe won’t see a rose gold or 64GB version of the P9, with the top tier model instead including a maximum of 32GB of internal storage.
Whereas early leaks pointed to the existence of the P9 Max, Huawei instead announced the P9 Plus, which will bring 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage (128GB in China) and an expanded 3,400mAh battery that will power a Super AMOLED display instead.

The P9 is set for release at the end of April, with the P9 Plus set to begin rollout at an as-yet undetermined point in May.
