Tinder now lets your friends suggest matches

Playing ‘matchmaker’ might be a game as old as the hills, but a new update brings it into the 21st century, allowing friends to suggest Tinder matches.

Ever wanted to share the profile of someone you’ve seen on Tinder with a friend? A new update allows you to do just that; bringing the ability to suggest Tinder matches for the first time.
Users are now able to find someone in the app that a friend might like, tap the share button, and send a link to the said user’s profile off to a friend. The friend in question will then have 72 hours or five clicks to consider the suggestion.

The move comes as a result of Tinder’s desire to reposition itself as a dating app, rather than one that is linked to hookup culture.
Previously, Tinder has not only revealed that a secret algorithm measures a user’s attractiveness to others, but further has revealed its top 10 list of the most desirable professions on the service.
Rosette Pambakian, a Vice President at Tinder, confirmed that the new feature “was one of the most popular requests from our users… So we are testing it.”
Further, the advent of matchmaking is one cited in a 2014 study as a practice that makes people happier, as cited by CNET. However, users who aren’t interested in having their profile shared can opt out of the feature.
