It would seem Gear VR has a new rival; the lightweight LG 360 VR headset has been revealed at the Mobile World Congress.
Fancy a bit of virtual reality to go with your G5? The LG 360 VR headset has been unveiled at MWC by the Korean company as a direct challenger to Samsung’s Gear VR.
Unlike other VR headsets, the LG 360 VR works through tethering a smartphone through a cable, reducing the unit’s weight to a mere 118 grams.

LG haven’t provided much detail on internal specifications beyond the fact that the 360 VR will offer a resolution of 639 ppi, and that the unit will be compatible with Google Cardboard content.
LG have stated that the headset won’t be large enough for true immersion, but will instead simulate the view of a 130-inch television from approximately two meters away.
While the headset might work through a USB Type C cable, LG have confirmed that the unit will only work when connected to an LG G5, which handles the units processing, image rendering and power.
The 360 VR includes two buttons atop the unit named “Ok” and “Back”, as well as a face sensor that is able to automatically activate or deactivate the headset based on whether it is being worn or not.
