Following David Bowie’s passing, astronaut Chris Hadfield, who covered the late artists’ Space Oddity, has paid his respects in a touching way online.
The world woke up to a morning without Ziggy Stardust on Monday, as David Bowie passed away from cancer at the age of 69. Commander Chris Hadfield, the astronaut who covered the artist’s Space Oddity in orbit, has been but one of the several tributes paid online.
Arguably, the astronaut brought excitement back to space with a series of YouTube videos recorded in orbit, most notably a cover of David Bowie’s Space Oddity following the final days of his tenure aboard the International Space Station.

Bowie himself deemed Hadfield’s cover “possibly the most poignant version of the song ever created” and personally allowed Hadfield to post the video online.
Hadfield joined in online to post a tribute to Bowie, which has since been retweeted on Twitter over 11,000 times and liked over 14,000 times.
