HTC One A9 renders look awfully like the iPhone

With the recent slew of bad financial results, HTC are once again in dire straits. Previously we heard from the company that they would remedy the situation by focusing more on the mid-tier market, which is much larger than the flagship market their admittedly great HTC One M9 is aiming at.
The device they are going to take the world on with next, is the HTC One A9. The One A9 is a mid-to-high end device, with pretty decent specs. Some new renders have leaked that have us questioning HTC‘s design decisions though.
Sure, these aren‘t actual photos of the device, rather pre-release or prototype renders, but you have to admit they look rather like the iPhone. All smartphone manufacturers “œborrow“ ideas from one another, but we‘re concerned this One A9 looks to reminiscent of the Apple champion.

The front facing BoomSound speakers are gone (presumably to make it cheaper), which makes the device look even more like other slabs on the market today. The rear camera is centred and more prominent than on the One M8 or M9, the fingerprint sensor probably doubles as a home button, and the corners are round, slightly deviating from the company‘s sharp, industrial approach in recent years.
Let‘s hope HTC have a good strategy this time around, because we wouldn‘t want them to suffer the same fate at BlackBerry.
