AI is very relevant right now, or with some Zoolander style – “AI is so hot right now…” Apple has recently indicated that they will bring a huge overhaul to their Siri feature with the new “Proactive” software, whilst Goolge tinkers and refines their already powerful Google Now application.
Of course Microsoft does not want to be left behind. Even though Cortana might be the junior employee among the digital assistants, she is up get a promotion very soon…
The team at Redmond rally did a great job with the first iteration of Coratana. As such we‘ve seen some major updates reach the platform lately that have proven to be very useful across all one’s daily applications. We didn’t expect to see any more improvements before the public release of Windows 10, but we were wrong.
Yesterday Microsoft released a new update that turns Cortana into a decent travel assistant. You can now ask Cortana for your upcoming flights, get information of how early you can get checked-in for the flight, and even get an airport Map once you reach the location. Cortana even provides users with a quick currency converter once you‘ve landed in your next destination as well. To enable this service you simply need to head to Cortana‘s Notebook, select Interests, and add Trip Planner.
Even though Windows 10 Mobile will make this service more powerful, it is good to see that Microsoft has dropped the ball in other departments just to get their new OS to the market. Let us know if you can activate the “Trip Planner” service for Cortana on your Windows device.
