Although the iPhone 6 has come a long way since the almost continuously tethered iPhone 5, it is still miles behind something like the HTC One M8 which can easily last up to two days.
Over 90% of respondents on the poll said that they want to see Apple improve iPhone battery life, versus less than 7% saying that “œiPhone battery life and battery cases are good enough as-is.“
The results clearly suggests that Apple can stop worrying about getting the phone as thin as possible and start investing longer lasting batteries. A solid majority of over 60% of respondents said that Apple should thicken the next iPhone to improve its battery life, which is especially noteworthy given that there were other poll options.
A group of 31% of the responses said that Apple should achieve whatever battery improvements it can by improving the iPhone‘s chips and a mere 2% said that Apple should instead focus on improving battery cases.
Whilst not the most scientific research (or a massive amount of participants), the poll results are in line with many other views around the internet. The Wall Street Journal‘s Christopher Mims, whose article Our One Wish: Longer Battery Life came to the conclusion that making iPhones “œthinner and lighter is a trend that has outlived its usefulness“.
Thinner phone may achieve a certain aesthetic goal but when it starts outweighing the actual use of the phone it clearly has overstepped the mark. Hopefully Apple will heed the advice of its customers with the development of the iPhone 6S / 7…
