Samsung Galaxy PRO ad does it again – trashing the competition

Surprise, surprise. Samsung has released their latest ad for the Galaxy PRO range of tablets, and, in a (un)surprising move, turned to trashing their competitors, again.
This time around, however, Samsung brings some other companies to the party. In the past, it seemed to have just been their biggest rival, Apple, that got caught in Samsung‘s line of advertising fire.
Surface, Microsoft‘s tablet, as well as the popular Kindle also get mocked in this latest offering from Samsung. And, of course, the iPad.
In the new ad, the theme seems to be that the Galaxy PRO can do so much more than the Surface, Kindle or iPad.
For instance, the iPad gets trashed for not being able to multi-task as well as the Galaxy PRO can. In the ad, a iPad user is seen frantically trying to send something to his boss while Skyping with her, while the Samsung user quickly gets the job done.
The Surface, on the other hand, gets thron under the bus basically for it‘s looks alone. In the ad, the Surface tablet is referred to as “˜looking like a laptop‘, because it has a keyboard, mouse and battery dock.
The Kindle is ridiculed for only catering to e-books. In the “˜Kindle scene‘, a group of ladies at book club are discussing a book, when one lady (the unfortunate one with a Kindle and not a Galaxy PRO) asks, surprisingly, if the Galaxy PRO can look up the book on YouTube. Naturally, it can. The poor Kindle lady then gets asked “œwhat can [your Kindle] do?“ and, with a deadpan expression, answers: “œbooks“.
And, just for good measure, samsung has one last jab at Apple‘s iPad before the 1 minute ad is over. In this last segment, Samsung points out (once again) that the iPad‘s Retina Display is inferior to the display in the Galaxy PRO.
While these ads are funny, they are becoming a bit redundant. Is mocking the competition the only thing we can come to expect from Samsung? Or is it a case of “˜if it ain‘t broke, don‘t fix it‘? Tell us what you think.
