Ladies, listen up. Your manicure can soon reach a whole new level of self expression with this new app. Always dreamt of designing your very own nail stickers? Well, now you can – and personalize it in any which way you want.
NailSnaps is a new app, currently running a Kickstarter campaign, that can turn your selfies, Instagrams or any other photo you take with your smartphone into physical nail polish stickers.
That‘s right; the app allows its users to take a photo of literally anything, then design it themselves and eventually, send it off to be printed into wearable art.
The premise is super simple and very clever. You simply take a picture, or choose an existing one, and upload it to the NailSnap app. Here, the app allows you to design, in detail, how you would want the photo to appear on the stickers.
Whether you want to split the image into 5 parts, so when you align your fingers its creates one image, or choose different parts of the image for each finger is completely up to you.
Once you are satisfied with your design, you simply send it off to the company, where they will then print your nail stickers and ship them off to you. Easy as that.
The idea for NailSnaps was born out of the founders‘ love for both Instagram as well as quirky manicures.
Angel and Sarah, founders of NailSnaps, came up with the idea because they wanted a way to showcase their Instagrams physically. And instead of simply printing their Instagrams as photographs, they turned to the other thing they love: nail art.
NailSnaps gives you the opportunity to showcase your personal photos and style, which would otherwise have stayed in a digital place.
Imagine wearing a nail polish sticker with your boyfriend‘s face on it. Or even your best friend or favourite celebrity. You can even take a photo of a beautiful sunset, quickly edit it on your smartphone, and a few days later, wear that exact sunset on your nails.
Needless to say, NailSnap is a very clever way of integrating personal style with the digital world and eventually ending up with a physical product.
You also needn‘t worry about a fading manicure with NailSnap stickers. These stickers are designed to last for a week or more, so no more chipping or fading colours – the ideal manicure for any woman.
The company is based in LA, so for us South Africans, getting your nails stickers with Table Mountain printed on them might take a while. However, the company said that they are committed to making sure there is an international shipping option once the app officially launches.
So far, NailSnaps has raised $20,306 out of a $47,381 Kickstarter goal. Their Kickstarter campaign is set to expire on the 1st of April.
While no official price has been set for set of NailSnap nail stickers, the founders have said that the final price, which includes printing, packaging and shipping, will be no more than $20 a pop – which, considering the Rand/Dollar exchange at the moment, might make it a little steep for us.
NailSnaps will initially be launched only for iOS. However, and Android version of the app is planned for the near future.
This truly is a clever way of not only expressing yourself, but also bringing your “˜digital style‘ to the real world. I, for one, would love personal photos on my nails – and pretty sure some people would like to have their selfies showcased on their fingers, too.
