Google introduces new HDMI dongle, Chromecast

Google has recently announced Chromecast, a new $35 device, that once plugged into your HD TV through an HDMI port, lets you cast content from your mobile phone, tablet or PC through the cloud onto its screen.
Once set up, Chromecast, that runs across platforms including Android, iOS and Chrome for Mac and Windows, lets you multitask – doing whatever you need to do, be it email or surf the web, and still watch TV, using the personal device as a remote control.
According to Pocket-lint Google explained, at its Android event on Wednesday, that rather than running Google TV software, Chromecast runs a slimmed-down version of Chrome OS.
A new feature in Chrome, launching in beta, allows you to project any browser tab to your TV to bring  a range of content to the TV screen including sharing photos and watching video clips.

Along with the new device, Google has launched a preview version of Google Cast, a technology that according to the search giant  “enables developers to build consistent, intuitive multi-screen experiences across mobile devices and TV” with developers already working on enabling the technology in their apps.
Chromecast currently works with a variety of apps including YouTube, Google Play Movies & TV and Google Play Music.
Google also expects the technology to be embedded in a range of other hardware devices in the future.
