SMME Growth Conferences kick-off in Cape Town

Leading conceptual events and conference agency, Living Your Brand, are proud to bring you the SMME Growth Conferences, set to kick-off in the Mother City on the 14th of October 2013.
Designed for the purpose of convening distinguished leaders to brainstorm some of the challenges related to business start-ups and best practices within the SMME sector, this conference series aims to facilitate constructive conversation toward SMME development.
Eight speakers will present relevant industry case studies and facilitate interactive discussions on building strong business strategies, identifying complexities, deriving commerce solutions and using the four major business focuses in synergy to boost economic growth through SMMEs.
The first four speakers include:

  • Paul Hobden – Head of Small Business at MWEB
  • Rebecca Cronje – Founder of Cultivate Communications
  • Leon Lategan – Founder of Conversion Camel
  • Rapelang Rabana – Founder of ReKindled Learning

The four major business areas include:

  • FINANCE – Financial management for your business (eg. how one gets started; Equity vs. Loans; Simple procedures one can take to cut costs and grow margins etc.)
  • PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT – Product development and positioning (e.g. Defining your product; Positioning your product or service to occupy a niche market; Steps you can take to develop my product etc.)
  • OPERATIONS & LOGISTICS – Flow of production and services (e.g. I.T; Cost effective operations; Staff management; Improve operating margins and productivity; Supply chain management etc.)
  • PROMOTION – Via sales and marketing (e.g. What are the trends; Online visibility; Effective sales processes in place; Converting leads into sales etc.)

Recent studies suggest that there is a sense of an increasingly unwelcoming business climate with less than positive implications for the ability of the SMME community in South Africa to generate wealth. But there is hope: The challenge is to identify factors that promote flourishing conditions for SMME success – Not only external factors such as the regulatory environment and skills requirements, but also the internal dynamics of the company.
This is where SMME Growth Conferences aims to assist by facilitating the development of strategies and programmes that will assist in the stabilisation and re-launching of the SMME sector onto a new growth trajectory.
