WhatsApp reveals significant milestone via Twitter

WhatsApp has announced via a tweet that the company has hit a new record after processing a staggering 27 billion messages in one day.

This milestone tops its previous record of 20 billion messages two months before and 18 billion in December 2012.
In response to a question received from a follower about the difference between inbound and outbound messages, WhatsApp explained that the difference lies in the group chat where “sending one message into a group chat of 10 people is 1:10 inbound:outbound”.
According to The Next Web, while the company does not regularly publicise its stats or milestones, WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum recently revealed that the messaging service has over 200 million active monthly users. That’s more than Twitter.
