Mary Meeker of Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers (KPCB) presented the company’s annual Internet Trends report at the D11 conference.
The in-depth report, published by Meeker and Liang Wu, finds continued robust online growth with 2.4 billion Internet users around the world.
The report also reviews the shifting online landscape, which has become more social and content rich, with expanded use and sharing of photos, video and audio.
While the opportunities in mobile advertising remain largely under-utilised, mobile usage is expanding rapidly.
Looking ahead, there are, as expected, signs of growth for wearable computing devices as well as the emergence of connected cars, drones and other new platforms.
