This is the LG Nexus 4, coming October 30th

So, we have confirmation at last. This is the new smartphone from Google, in collaboration with LG, the Nexus 4. An official retail page has been spotted online on UK retailer Carphone Warehouse‘s website. Most notably, it will go on sale October 30th, one day after Google‘s big event in New York City.
The notorious Twitter leaker @evleaks has also sent out this press shot of the device, and we must admit, these do look legitimate.

The speckled dots on the back look quite interesting, very much like the live wallpaper from the Nexus One. Also, it seems that it will be the first Nexus device that doesn‘t have the “˜Google‘ branding at the back, but rather simply labelled “˜Nexus‘. From the front, it looks very much like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the last Nexus smartphone released in November 2011. Although it was to be expected after that device was the first Nexus to sell in very big volumes, we feel it‘s still a bit disappointing.
The Nexus 4 will be packing a quad-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor and comes with an 8MP camera, a great improvement on the predecessor. It also comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which we don‘t know much about as of yet. Other great news is that the display is much, much better than the current model‘s.
Unfortunately, we won‘t have any details about when the device might come to South Africa until next week.
