At the IFA tech tradeshow in Berlin, NexLawn, a sub-brand of MOVA, introduced the Master X Series Concept, a robotic lawnmower with a fully functional mechanical arm. The company says this is the first of its kind, designed to reduce the manual maintenance required for robot lawnmower owners.

The robotic arm’s primary function is to clear debris, like fallen sticks, that could damage the mower or obstruct its path. The arm can fold down to 44.5 cm and extend up to 77 cm, with a one-meter reach. It has multiple interchangeable attachments, including a multi-gripper, a trimmer head, and an edging disc head, with more in development.
According to NexLawn, the Master X Series Concept is capable of a range of tasks beyond just mowing, such as “trimming, weeding, fruit picking, and even pet interaction.” A demo video shows the mower throwing a ball for a dog, though it’s unclear how a pet would react to a robot.
Since the device is a concept, there is no official pricing or release date. However, the development of a robotic lawnmower with these advanced features signals a future where these devices are far more autonomous and versatile.
