Google has announced the wider availability of its Veo 2 video generation model, following a four-month limited preview. The tool is now being rolled out to users of Gemini Advanced, allowing them to create 720p video clips up to eight seconds in length. “The more detailed your description, the more control you have over the final video,” Google stated regarding the model’s capabilities.

Currently, Gemini will only generate videos in a 16:9 landscape orientation, which may not be ideal for all social media platforms. However, Google highlighted that users can directly upload their creations to TikTok or YouTube via Gemini’s share sheet, and all generated footage will be automatically saved as MP4 files. Google claims that Veo 2 offers improvements over its predecessor, particularly in understanding real-world physics and human motion.
To access Gemini’s video generation features, users will need a Google One AI Premium Plan, priced at $20 per month. Once the full rollout of Veo 2 is complete, video generation will be accessible in all languages supported by Gemini, across both web and mobile platforms. In a related development, Google is also integrating Veo 2 generation into Whisk, its experimental AI application available through the Google Labs beta platform. Whisk, which already allows image generation from text and image prompts, will now enable users to animate their creations using Veo 2.
