Google is bringing gaming support to Android Auto, allowing users to play titles like Candy Crush Soda Saga and Angry Birds 2 directly on their car’s touchscreen. This feature is currently available in the beta version of Android 14.1, which is now rolling out to testers.

At launch, only four games are supported: Candy Crush Soda Saga, Angry Birds 2, Farm Heroes Saga, and Beach Buggy Racing. To play them, users must first install the games on their smartphones. As a safety measure, gameplay is restricted to when the car is parked. According to 9to5Google, attempting to shift out of park immediately closes the game, and the app becomes inaccessible in the app drawer and switcher.
This update also marks the first time fullscreen apps are available on Android Auto, though it’s unclear whether this capability will extend to other app categories. The addition of gaming and fullscreen support brings Android Auto closer to the in-car experience of vehicles with Google built-in, which already offer a broader range of playable games when parked.
Google first announced gaming support for Android Auto earlier this month as part of its March feature drop, but there’s no official timeline for a public release. While these are the most advanced games available on the platform so far, Android Auto previously introduced a small selection of HTML5-based titles through Google’s GameSnacks service in 2021.
