Sony announces first PlayStation Plus line-up of 2025

Sony has announced the first set of PlayStation Plus games for 2025, available to all subscribers regardless of their service tier. This month’s lineup includes Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. While the selection might not be the most thrilling, The Stanley Parable stands out as a timeless classic, even if it’s showing its age.

Originally released in 2011 as a Half-Life 2 mod, The Stanley Parable received a standalone release in 2013 and was later revamped with the Ultra Deluxe edition in 2022. Created by Davey Wreden and William Pugh, the Ultra Deluxe version expands the original with new dialogue, choices, and surprises that play on players’ expectations. As the developers cryptically teased: “Everything you remember has been recreated, yet it’s different somehow.” If you haven’t experienced this quirky and thought-provoking game yet, now’s the perfect opportunity.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered is another blast from the past. Originally launched in 2010, the remastered version arrived for PS4 in 2020 and is the one included in this month’s lineup. Players can dive into full career modes as either a racer or a cop, with all the DLC from the original game bundled in. Multiplayer options are also available, making this a solid pick for fans of arcade racing.

The most recent addition is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a live-service title that has faced a rocky road since its release in February 2024. The game received largely negative reviews, endured several delays, and reportedly cost Warner Bros. $200 million. To make matters worse, the developers recently announced that the current season of content will be the last, though there are no immediate plans to shut down the servers. Despite its troubled history, the game’s inclusion in PS Plus offers players a chance to try it out without paying the $70 retail price.

All three games will be available to PS Plus subscribers starting January 7. Be sure to add December’s titles to your library before then!
