PlayStation VR2 controller could soon work with the Apple Vision Pro

Apple and Sony have been quietly collaborating to bring PlayStation VR2 controller support to the Apple Vision Pro, according to a report by Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter. This move aims to address one of the Vision Pro’s current limitations: its lack of support for traditional VR controllers.

The two tech giants initiated this partnership earlier this year, with Sony actively working on the integration. The initial plan was to have this feature ready by now, but technical challenges and the current availability of PS VR2 controllers as part of a headset bundle have caused a delay. However, Gurman suggests that this project is far from being scrapped and is likely to be implemented in the future.

The addition of PS VR2 controllers would significantly enhance the Vision Pro’s capabilities, particularly in gaming. It would provide a more precise and intuitive way to interact with virtual environments. Beyond gaming, these controllers could also be beneficial for tasks like media editing, offering a level of control that’s currently not possible with the device’s eye and gesture-based controls.

This collaboration between Apple and Sony highlights the potential for cross-platform innovation and the growing convergence of gaming and augmented reality technologies.
