Manchester City has launched a competition inviting fans to design its future kit using AI, with the winning creation set to become the club’s official third kit for the 2026-2027 season. Players will wear the chosen design on the pitch, and it will also be made available for purchase by fans.

The club has partnered with Puma and AI company DeepObjects to introduce a text-to-image uniform generator. Fans can use the tool by creating an account and entering a description of their desired design. The generator offers various artistic styles to inspire creativity, including options like “abstract,” “emotive brushstrokes,” or “dream visions.”
Once a prompt is entered, the Puma AI Creator generates four uniform design options. Fans can further personalize their creations by adjusting collar styles, trim colours, and badge placements. Users receive 15 credits for generating designs (one credit per design) but can only submit two entries for the competition, which closes on December 20. The winner will be determined by fan ratings and a panel of experts from Manchester City and Puma.
The Puma AI Creator has already been tested by City players Ederson, Stefan Ortega, and Rico Lewis, who designed a goalkeeper kit inspired by the pattern of a football goal net. This kit, touted as the first AI-generated soccer uniform to be worn in a match, underscores the innovative nature of the competition. This initiative arrives amid a challenging period for Manchester City. The club has been under scrutiny due to an ongoing investigation into alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations and is currently struggling with form on the pitch. Despite these issues, the competition represents an exciting opportunity for fans to engage with the team in a unique and creative way.
