Fortnite is launching a 5v5 tactical FPS mode

Fortnite is introducing a new game mode, Ballistic, offering a 5v5 tactical first-person shooter experience. Launching in early access on December 11, Ballistic pits two teams against each other: one tasked with planting a Rift Point Device that detonates after 45 seconds, and the other focused on stopping it. Initially, the mode will feature a single map, Skyline 10, and a limited selection of weapons and items, with plans to expand through major updates, according to a Fortnite blog post.

“Ballistic is a no-build mode,” explains the Fortnite team. “All saved presets from your Locker will carry over, including Fortnite Outfits, Back Blings, Kicks, Wraps, Sprays, and Emotes. However, Pickaxes, Contrails, Instruments, Vehicles, and Jam Tracks are not supported.”

The gameplay emphasizes strategy: players who are eliminated during a round cannot respawn until the next one. Matches alternate team roles after six rounds, with victory going to the first team to secure seven rounds. Players can choose to engage in Ranked or Unranked matches for varying levels of competition.

Ballistic will be available on all platforms where Fortnite is played, with the exception of South Korea and Russia. However, Epic Games is working to bring the mode to these regions. As part of its early access launch, player feedback will play a vital role in shaping the experience as it evolves.

This new mode adds a fresh dynamic to Fortnite’s roster, blending tactical FPS elements with the franchise’s iconic style. Keep an eye out for updates and additions as Ballistic gains momentum.
