Marc Jury resigns as CEO of Showmax and MultiChoice SA

Marc Jury, the CEO of MultiChoice South Africa and Showmax, is set to depart the company on March 31, 2025. Jury, who has been with the company for nearly a decade, will be pursuing new opportunities in the sports industry.

In a statement, MultiChoice Group CEO Calvo Mawela expressed gratitude for Jury’s contributions to the company, highlighting his leadership in various initiatives, including the SA20 cricket league, the Netball World Cup production, and the growth of DStv Stream and Showmax.

Byron du Plessis, currently the deputy CFO of MultiChoice Group, has been appointed as the new CEO of MultiChoice South Africa. He will assume the role on December 1, 2024, and work closely with Jury during a four-month handover period.

Du Plessis brings a wealth of experience to the role, having held key positions within the company. His contributions to strategic initiatives, such as partnerships with KingMakers, Comcast, and Sanlam, as well as his involvement in the Canal+ acquisition, have been instrumental to MultiChoice’s success.

As the new CEO, Du Plessis will focus on driving growth, enhancing operational efficiency, and fostering a positive company culture. He will continue to collaborate with Group CFO Tim Jacobs on strategic projects while prioritizing his responsibilities as CEO of MultiChoice South Africa.
