Tesla is set to launch fully realized V4 Supercharger stations next year, delivering up to 500kW charging for electric vehicles (EVs) and 1.2MW for its commercial Semi trucks. Permits for sites with the new V4 cabinets are currently in progress, with stations expected to open in 2025. These upgraded systems will feature advanced electronics, enabling faster charging for Tesla’s Cybertruck and compatible EVs from other manufacturers.

While Tesla began deploying V4 stalls in select locations across Europe and the U.S. last year, they have so far been limited by V3 Supercharger infrastructure, which supports a maximum charging speed of 250kW. The upcoming V4 cabinets will address these limitations, offering significant improvements.
Key upgrades include physical payment terminals, allowing for easier payment options, and longer charging cables that accommodate various EV designs without requiring vehicles to block adjacent stalls. Additionally, the V4 chargers will feature built-in CCS connectors, eliminating the need for non-Tesla owners to bring adapters.
Tesla reports that V4 cabinets are more efficient to deploy and can power up to eight stalls each. These advancements will particularly benefit owners of EVs from brands like Porsche, Hyundai, and Kia, which currently experience slower charging speeds on V3 Superchargers due to their lack of higher-voltage charging support.
The V4 Supercharger rollout underscores Tesla’s commitment to expanding its charging network’s capabilities, ensuring compatibility with a wider range of EVs while supporting the growing demand for ultra-fast charging solutions.
