Samsung rumoured to launch a Galaxy S25 Slim model

Samsung may be developing a “Galaxy S25 Slim” model, mirroring rumours of a “Slim” iPhone 17 expected in 2025, which could replace the iPhone Plus. According to South Korea’s ET News, Samsung could release this slimmer Galaxy model in the second quarter of 2025 (April – June), a few months after the main Galaxy S25 lineup debuts.

In support of this, Smartprix recently reported a smartphone listing with the market name “Galaxy” and model number SM-S937U in the GSMA IMEI database. Smartprix notes that Samsung typically adds phones it’s testing internally to this database around six to seven months before launch. This model number aligns with Samsung’s typical standard, Plus, and Ultra models, suggesting a possible S25 series addition.

Other than the U in the model number, indicating a U.S. release, further details remain sparse. On the iPhone side, the rumoured slim variant could arrive in the third quarter of 2025 and may be priced above Apple’s current top-tier model, the iPhone Pro Max. Reports indicate this iPhone may feature a 6.6-inch display and just one rear camera.

To achieve a slimmer design, Samsung may need to adjust some components, possibly scaling back on processor power, display quality, battery size, and camera capabilities. So, if the AI advancements in the Galaxy S24 and iPhone 16 aren’t reason enough for an upgrade, 2025 might reveal if ultra-thin designs can make a difference.
