Following the announcement of iOS 18.1’s public release next week, which includes writing tools, notification summaries, and Apple’s hearing test, users will have their first opportunity to experience Apple Intelligence. The iPhone 16 series, initially launched without these features, was positioned as devices designed for Apple Intelligence.

The latest developer beta updates bring Genmoji, a tool that allows you to create custom emoji from your keyboard. You can access Genmoji on the emoji keyboard and enter your desired text to generate options. These custom emoji can be used as tapback reactions and even created based on pictures of your friends.

Apple is also releasing a Genmoji API for third-party messaging apps, enabling users to share Genmoji on platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram.

Other features introduced in this update include Image Playground, a standalone app and a tool accessible within the Messages app. Image Playground allows you to generate images based on descriptions or photos, with options for animation or illustration.

Image Wand, an update to the Apple Pencil tool palette, helps users refine their sketches.

As announced at WWDC, Apple is integrating ChatGPT into Siri and Writing Tools. When appropriate, the system will suggest using ChatGPT for tasks like generating itineraries, workout routines, or meal plans. Users can choose the frequency of these suggestions and whether to connect their ChatGPT account.

The integration of ChatGPT within Writing Tools enables users to compose text using the AI’s capabilities. The “Describe your change” tool simplifies the editing process by allowing users to specify desired modifications to their writing.

These updates highlight Apple’s ongoing efforts to enhance its AI features and provide users with innovative tools and experiences.
