Microsoft has introduced a new discless version of its Xbox Series X, featuring the same white colour as the smaller Xbox Series S. The only notable difference from the original carbon black Xbox Series X is the absence of a disc drive in this white model.

There’s no option to add a disc drive later, so buyers of this $449.99 version will need to commit to playing digital games or relying on Xbox Game Pass.
The rear ports remain unchanged from the original Series X, including two USB-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port for TV or monitor connection, an Ethernet port, and a storage expansion slot. The front of the console features a single USB-A port and a pair button for connecting controllers and accessories.
The white finish on this discless Series X matches the “robot white” found on the Xbox Series S. Additionally, Microsoft is releasing a 1TB Xbox Series S in white for $349.99 this holiday season, alongside a 2TB “Galaxy Black” special edition of the Xbox Series X, priced at $599.99.
While leaks suggested Microsoft may have upgraded the heatsink for improved cooling in this model, we’ll have to wait for teardowns to confirm any internal changes.
