While the Oura Ring 4 may appear similar to its predecessor, it boasts a fully titanium construction and a flatter, more comfortable profile. The new ring also incorporates a more advanced algorithm that addresses the issue of finger alignment, leading to improved data accuracy and reduced gaps in heart rate readings.
Oura claims that the new algorithm increases signal quality by 120 percent and improves blood oxygen tracking accuracy by 30 percent. Additionally, it extends battery life to up to eight days, depending on the ring size.
To cater to a wider demographic, Oura is expanding its size range from 6 to 13 to include sizes 4 to 15. This move is particularly beneficial for women, who now make up the majority of Oura’s user base.
The redesigned Oura app features three main sections: Today, Vitals, and My Health. The Today tab provides a dynamic summary of your biometrics, while Vitals allows for in-depth analysis of metrics and scores. The My Health tab focuses on long-term trends.
Oura is also introducing a revamped Daytime Stress metric and automatic activity detection for 40 different activities. For reproductive health, Oura is adding fertile window predictions. However, it’s important to note that this feature is not intended for contraceptive purposes.
The Oura Ring 4 will be available starting October 15th at a price of $349. While this represents a $50 increase from the previous generation, Oura Ring Gen 3 units will remain available until inventory runs out. Oura has confirmed that the subscription price will remain unchanged at $6 monthly or $70 annually.
