Google Pixel 9a leak shows visor-less design

Google’s first major leak of the season has arrived, showcasing new renders of the upcoming Pixel 9a, now visible to the public. Similar to the Pixel 8a leak earlier this year, Android Headlines has once again obtained images of Google’s next budget A-series phone, courtesy of OnLeaks—the same source that leaked renders of the Pixel 9 lineup.

According to the leak, the Pixel 9a will depart from Google’s now-iconic visor-style camera housing. Instead, the phone will reportedly feature two rear cameras housed in a pill-shaped module that sits nearly flush with the back of the device. A camera flash is positioned to the right, giving the rear a design reminiscent of the iPhone 7 Plus, though slightly magnified. The rest of the phone’s body appears consistent with other Pixel 9 devices—and current iPhones—with its slim bezels surrounding the display.

Android Headlines also points out that the Pixel 9a may ship with Android 15, marking a significant software update for the device. Additionally, this could be the last Google phone to use a Samsung-based Tensor chip, as Google is reportedly planning to switch to TSMC processors for its future devices starting in 2025.

Though details remain scarce, it is expected that the Pixel 9a will be released in the spring, in line with previous A-series launches, which usually take place around Google I/O. For now, it may be a while before we get official confirmation or further specifications about Google’s next budget offering.
