Uber Safari launched for trips from Cape Town

Starting this October, Uber Safari will offer riders in South Africa the opportunity to embark on a Big Five safari just a few hours from Cape Town. This new experience joins Uber’s “Go Anywhere” series, which includes previous offerings like Uber Bubbles, Uber Boat, and Uber Balloon.

“Safari is an iconic travel experience in Africa,” said Imran Manji, Head of Uber East and South Africa. “We’re excited to provide tourists and locals with an affordable, luxurious, and seamless wildlife adventure through our app.”

Uber Safari partners with Aquila Private Game Reserve, a 10,000 hectare protected land located about two hours outside of Cape Town. The day trip includes round-trip transfers, a game drive, and lunch for up to four passengers at an affordable price of $50 per person.

During the game drive, guests will have the chance to spot South Africa’s Big Five animals, along with other wildlife. The covered safari vehicles are designed for all weather conditions. After the safari, guests can enjoy Aquila’s grounds and swimming pool before returning to their hotel.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Uber to offer our bucket list wildlife experiences to their customers,” said Johan van Schalkwyk, Commercial Officer of Aquila Collection. “Uber Safari provides an unforgettable day at Aquila, where they can experience the Big 5 in a convenient and luxurious way.”

Uber Safari’s availability begins on October 2, 2024, and can be booked 24 hours to 90 days in advance. The Uber Safari icon will be visible on the Uber home screen for all riders in South Africa. Excursions run on Fridays and Saturdays until January 25, 2025.

Uber users can change their in-app location to South Africa to book the experience. Cancellations are free if made more than 24 hours before the trip.
