YouTubers Matthew Perkins and Arun Maini have achieved the extraordinary by building a working replica of the iPhone 15 Pro Max that is 100 times its normal size. This massive project, which earned them a Guinness World Record, involved replicating various components and functionalities of the original phone.

Starting with the screen, Perkins converted a large LG Signature 88-inch OLED TV into a responsive touchscreen. He meticulously crafted a touch foil the size of the screen and secured it using UV epoxy.

The next challenge was to fit oversized versions of the iPhone’s components into a custom-built aluminium frame. The camera array, speakers, buttons, and other elements were carefully integrated into the structure. Perkins opted for high-quality cameras like the Canon EOS R5 and Sony RX10 Mark 4 to replicate the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s telephoto lens.

While the operating system couldn’t be replicated due to iOS’s closed-source nature, Android provided a suitable alternative. Bliss OS, a custom ROM, allowed the team to recreate the iPhone’s home screen and even install Flappy Bird, a game that has been unavailable on iPhones for years.

The giant iPhone 15 Pro Max is not only functional but also capable of performing tasks like tap-to-pay purchases, sending emails, and making video calls. Despite its hefty price tag of $70,000, the YouTubers bravely took the device out into the real world to test its capabilities.

This remarkable project showcases the ingenuity and dedication of the creators involved. While the giant iPhone 15 Pro Max may not have practical applications, it serves as a testament to human creativity and the possibilities of engineering.
