This is what the new Microsoft Surface laptops cost in South Africa

Microsoft has launched its new Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 2-in-1 convertible devices in South Africa. Priced from R26,999 and R29,999, respectively, these devices are available at various retailers, including Incredible Connection, Makro, Amazon, Takealot, Evetech, and Braintree.

As part of Microsoft’s Copilot PC product line, both models emphasize AI capabilities, supporting over 40 trillion operations per second. The Surface Pro is powered by either the Snapdragon X Elite or Snapdragon X Plus chipset, offering up to 90% improved processing power compared to its predecessor.

Both models feature 16GB LPDDR5X RAM as standard, with the Snapdragon X Elite model allowing for configuration with 32GB. The key difference between the two models lies in their displays: the X Elite boasts an OLED display, while the X Elite Plus has an LCD screen.

For users seeking more screen space, the higher-end models support output to three external 4K monitors. The Snapdragon chips’ efficiency enables the Pro to deliver up to 14 hours of battery life, even as a large tablet without its keyboard.

The redesigned Surface Laptop 7 is also available with two Snapdragon chip options and comes in either a 13.8-inch or 15-inch display. Both models offer a 22-hour battery life and various RAM and storage options.

Security is a priority for Microsoft, and both devices feature Pluton chip-to-cloud security processors to protect credentials, personal data, and encryption keys. Enhanced sign-in security options are also available.

The Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 offer storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB in an NVMe form factor, allowing for easy removal or replacement.

The Surface Laptop 7 will compete with Apple’s MacBook Air M3 range, which starts at R23,999.
