Hyundai confirms it will build the N Vision 74

A few years ago, Hyundai introduced the N Vision 74, a radical EV supercar concept designed by the iconic Giorgetto Giugiaro. Now, it appears that this vehicle may enter production in some form, as suggested by several slides from the company’s recent investor day presentation.

In the slideshow, Hyundai showcased its complete EV lineup, which includes 21 models set to launch by 2030. Among these, alongside the affordable Casper and the mainstream Hyundai and luxury Genesis brands, was the reveal of a “Hyundai N (Vision 74)” high-performance EV. Interestingly, this model also carried the “Genesis Magma” branding.

One of the slides emphasized that the “N Inherits Motorsports Heritage,” describing it as a “high-performance EV delivering consistent driving pleasure and experience.” The luxury Genesis brand is also set to expand with “high-end EVs,” with both the N and Genesis models building on the existing Ioniq EV lineup.

Last year, Motor1 reported that Hyundai might produce the N Vision 74 in very limited quantities, with 70 road cars and 30 racing versions, totalling just 100 units. However, Hyundai denied these rumours at the time.

The original N Vision 74 concept was equipped with a 62.4-kWh battery pack and an 85 kWh hydrogen-powered fuel-cell stack, along with a 10-pound fuel tank, offering a range of around 373 miles. It also featured two rear electric motors, delivering 670 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. However, it seems Hyundai may have dropped the hydrogen component, as the Hyundai N (Vision 74) is now referred to solely as a high-performance EV.

If you think the N model bears a resemblance to the DeLorean, you’re not mistaken—Giugiaro also designed that iconic ’80s supercar. His other notable creations include the Lotus Esprit, Maserati Quattroporte, and Nikon’s F3 SLR camera.
