LG Electronics unveils LG ThinQ ON AI home hub for revolutionizing AI Homes with Affectionate Intelligence at IFA 2024.

LG has introduced a versatile smart home hub, the ThinQ ON, designed to control not only LG-branded appliances but also a wide range of other smart home devices. Equipped with a built-in speaker, the ThinQ ON allows users to interact with LG’s AI voice assistant, enabling voice control for various tasks and information retrieval.

LG’s advanced technology enables the ThinQ ON to “understand the context of conversations” and determine user preferences for specific devices. This means the hub can automatically set the thermostat to a preferred temperature or select the appropriate washer cycle based on previous usage patterns. Additionally, the hub can provide timely notifications, such as informing users when the dryer cycle is complete.

The ThinQ ON is Matter-certified, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of smart home devices and appliances. It can connect to these devices using Wi-Fi or Thread, a low-power wireless protocol. Moreover, LG’s acquisition of Athom and its Homey Pro smart hub has significantly expanded the hub’s compatibility. The Homey App Store offers over 1,000 applications, allowing the ThinQ ON to control products from numerous brands worldwide.

While LG has not disclosed the pricing and availability details for the ThinQ ON, the hub is being showcased at IFA 2024 in Berlin, Germany, from September 6th to 10th.
