HMD, maker of Nokia phones, launches a Barbie phone

HMD Global’s Barbie-branded flip phone may have missed the foldable phone craze, but it offers a unique and nostalgic appeal. Initially announced at Mobile World Congress, the phone is now officially available for purchase at $129 in October.

As a true feature phone, the Barbie Phone is designed for those seeking a digital detox. It offers basic calling and texting functionality, but lacks app support. The small 2.8-inch inner screen and T9 typing might be challenging for those accustomed to smartphones. However, the 5-megapixel camera with built-in flash can capture photos with a retro aesthetic.

While the phone itself is simple, the overall vibe is undeniably Barbie. The device comes with themed battery covers, a beaded wrist strap, and stick-on gems for customization. Even the classic Snake game has been given a Barbie makeover.

For those who appreciate gadgets that fully embrace a concept, the Barbie Phone offers a delightful and nostalgic experience.
