The untitled documentary is being produced by Unrealistic Ideas, a production company founded by Mark Wahlberg. The team behind HBO’s McMillions is currently working on the project, which has no confirmed release date.

The filmmakers have secured exclusive access to the Research In Motion Alumni Association, allowing for in-depth interviews with former executives involved in the BlackBerry story. Additionally, the documentary will feature “an array of never-before-seen archival footage.”

Director Schmidt expressed his excitement about exploring the “unpredictable real-life saga” that unfolded at the intersection of technology and popular culture. While the documentary won’t include Glenn Howerton’s portrayal of former Research In Motion CEO Jim Balsillie, it promises to offer a comprehensive look at the BlackBerry’s journey.
