Xbox Game Pass is getting its first Call of Duty game

Microsoft has faced criticism recently for its Xbox Game Pass price hike and a perceived lack of compelling game offerings. In response, they are adding a Call of Duty game to the service for the first time. However, the title they’re offering is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, which has not been well-received and is one of the lowest-rated entries in the series.

Reviews for Modern Warfare III have been predominantly negative. IGN’s Simon Cardy described its single-player campaign as “shallow” and “dull,” calling it “the worst Call of Duty single-player campaign I’ve played.” Similarly, Derek Johnson from Jump Dash Roll noted that the campaign is “genuinely not worth playing,” and the Zombies mode, while not as bad as the campaign, still falls short of being enjoyable.

Despite the lukewarm reception to Modern Warfare III, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can also look forward to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which will be available from its release day in October. While the quality of this upcoming title remains to be seen, there is hope that it will be better received than Modern Warfare III.
