Good news for South African sports fans! You won’t need a pricey DStv subscription or complicated workarounds to catch the highly anticipated 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, running from July 27th to August 11th.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) secured the free-to-air broadcast rights, offering most coverage on its SABC Sport channel. Due to the vast number of Olympic disciplines, some events will also air on SABC 1, 2, and 3. These channels are readily available on free-to-air digital terrestrial broadcasting and the Openview satellite service.
The Olympics will also stream live on the free SABC+ app, accessible on web browsers, Android and iOS devices, and various Smart TVs. However, details about live coverage of every gold medal event are yet to be confirmed.
DStv will offer comprehensive coverage with nine dedicated channels, including an Olympic news channel (available to Premium and Compact Plus subscribers). These tiers will enable live viewing of all gold medal contests. Compact subscribers will have access to six Olympic channels (excluding the free-to-air SABC channels also on DStv), but only select gold medal events will be live. Family and Access packages receive limited Olympic channel options. DStv offers viewing via satellite, DStv Stream (web, mobile apps, Smart TV apps).
