Uber offering Election Day discounts on two rides

On Wednesday morning, South Africans will head to their registered voting stations to cast their votes. To help with travel costs on Election Day, Uber South Africa has announced promotional discounts for riders.

“We’re committed to helping to ensure that transport isn’t a barrier to making your mark,” stated Uber in an official communication shared with Hypertext.

Uber SA is offering a 35 percent discount on two rides to and from voting stations on 29 May 2024. The discount applies to trips up to R40 and is available to a limited number of riders. Specifically, it is valid for the first 50,000 people who apply the promo code VOTESA24.

To use the promotion, follow these steps:

  1. Open your Uber app.
  2. Click on ‘Account’ and select ‘Wallet.’
  3. Scroll down to ‘Promotions.’
  4. Tap ‘Add promo code.’
  5. Enter the code VOTESA24 and tap ‘Add.’
  6. Request a ride as usual.
