Apple will finally unveil new iPad models on May 7th

After introducing the Vision Pro at the start of 2024, Apple is gearing up for its next big move with a product launch event scheduled for May. Invitations have been sent out to the media for a “special Apple Event” on May 7th at 7AM PT / 10AM ET. The image on the invite prominently features the Apple Pencil, hinting at the event’s focus on iPads.

Rumours circulating suggest that the iPad Pro is due for some major upgrades, marking the most significant improvements since the 2021 M1 overhaul. These upgrades may include an OLED display, with the larger model possibly getting a slight size increase to 13 inches, an updated M3 chipset, and a much-awaited repositioning of the front-facing camera to the horizontal orientation. Additionally, there might be introductions of a new Apple Pencil and a revamped Magic Keyboard with an aluminium construction and a larger trackpad.

This event will mark the end of what has been the longest gap between new iPad models since Apple entered the product category.

Furthermore, it’s anticipated that we’ll see refreshed iPad Air models, potentially including a larger 12.9-inch variant. Reports indicate that inventory of the current iPad Air has been declining at Apple’s retail stores, suggesting that an upgraded model is imminent.
