Netflix is marking the first anniversary of its ad-supported plan with a special offer for its users on that tier. To celebrate, every fourth episode of a consecutive binge will be ad-free. This incentive is designed to encourage users to extend their viewing on the platform, making it even more enticing.

Additionally, Netflix is introducing the ability to download shows and movies for users on its ad-supported tier. This marks Netflix as the first streaming service to offer downloads to users with ads included in their subscription. While the ad-free binge-watching perk won’t be available until early 2024, the download feature is expected to be accessible by the end of the week. However, it remains uncertain whether downloaded content will enjoy the binge-watching perk once it’s rolled out.
Netflix has taken a surprising turn after its launch of an ad-supported tier in November 2022, despite its initial stance against such a plan. It introduced its first Title Sponsorship during the most recent season of “Love Is Blind” and is continuing partnerships with another reality series, “Squid Game: The Challenge,” and “The Crown’s” final season. In early 2024, advertisers will also have the option to incorporate a QR code in their US-based content.
Netflix’s ad-supported plan offers a budget-friendly option, especially after the platform reduced its Basic tier pricing in mid-2023. The cost is set at $6.99 per month, making it the most affordable choice, while the Standard plan is priced at $15.49, and the Premium tier at $22.49. The lowest-priced tier permits two concurrent streams and has been upgraded to 1080p video quality from the previous 720p resolution.
