The user interface of watchOS 10 has undergone a complete redesign, taking advantage of the larger displays on Apple Watches. Users can now see more information at a glance, and apps like weather and stocks have been rebuilt to provide richer content. The introduction of Smart Stack allows users to access widgets by using the display or the Digital Crown. The Control Center can be accessed through the side button.

For fitness enthusiasts, watchOS 10 introduces new cycling metrics that can be tracked with compatible Bluetooth accessories, such as cadence, speed, and power. Users can gain more insights into their workouts if they have motion trackers on their pedals and support for watchOS 10.

The Power Zones Workout View estimates the user’s functional threshold power and helps maintain intensity for an hour, aiding sports users in improving their performance. Cycling metrics are also displayed as Live Activities on the iPhone, providing additional information at a glance.

Hikers will find the compass even more useful, as it generates two new waypoints: Last Cellular Connection Waypoint estimates the last location with cellular reception, while Last Emergency Call Waypoint guides users to a spot where emergency services can be reached.

The elevation view utilizes altimeter data to offer a three-dimensional perspective of saved points. In the US, Apple Maps now includes a topographic map with contour lines, hill shading, elevation details, and trail information.

Recognizing the importance of mental health, watchOS 10 allows users to reflect on their emotional state by choosing from multidimensional shapes and describing their feelings. Additionally, the ambient light sensor measures time spent in daylight, providing insights into the impact of sunlight on physical and mental well-being. Parents and guardians can track their children’s time spent in daylight through the Health app.
