The company positions itself as the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand and believes its devices will be particularly popular among Gen-Z users aged 18 to 25. Gareth Clarke, Realme’s account lead, states that Gen-Z is at the forefront of shaping the value and direction of creative content, and Realme aims to provide cost-effective smartphones that cater to this market segment’s needs. The smartphones are designed to be affordable, technologically advanced, and aesthetically pleasing.

One of the smartphone series offered by Realme is the C-Series, which the company describes as having flagship-level standards. The series includes the C55 and C30s models. The Realme C55, priced at R5,999, boasts a 64MP camera, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the C30s is targeted at smaller budgets and features a 5,000mAh battery, a 6.5-inch display, 4GB of RAM, and up to 64GB of storage.

Realme emphasizes that despite being entry-level smartphones, the quality of their devices has not been compromised. The company aims to exceed user expectations and maintain its reputation as a champion in the entry-level phone market. Realme has observed the success of its devices among young consumers seeking affordable, high-quality entry-level smartphones in other markets and expects a similar response in South Africa.

Realme recognizes a significant opportunity in Africa, as there is a growing demand for low-cost devices on the continent. According to the International Data Corporation, smartphones priced under $200 (R3,900) constitute 83.6% of global smartphone shipments.
