MultiChoice is aggressively pushing its DStv Internet division with affordably priced uncapped fibre products, bundling DStv packages at deeply discounted prices. All of these offers will be available through its new DStv Streama streaming box, as the company is auctioning its move away from solely being a traditional satellite television service and a fully-fledged streaming service.

There are currently two products available, with more certainly to follow soon. The current products bundles the fibre with either DStv Compact or its high-end DStv Premium packages:
- A 25Mbps uncapped fibre connection, a DStv Streama TV box with a DStv Compact subscription for R699/month. If customers have their own decoder they get the TV satellite service at no additional cost.
- A 25Mbps uncapped fibre connection, a DStv Streama TV box with a DStv Premium subscription for R999/month. If customers have their own decoder they get the TV satellite service at no additional cost.
Both these deals are available on a 24 month contract. Taking the normal package prices into account, it means you are effectively paying R330 per month for the Streama box and the uncapped fibre for the Compact subscription, while you are paying R300 per month for the Streama box and the uncapped fibre if taking out the Premium subscription.
DStv’s Streama box, which is bundled for “free” in these deals, was launched on 1 October at a recommended retail price of R1 299. The product, which was in development for two years, has built-in Wi-Fi and supports 4K HDR playback and Dolby Atmos audio.
It isn’t clear which fibre network MultiChoice has partnered for the internet included in these packages. However, taking the 25Mbps download speeds into consideration it could be a host of providers. Depending on your area, the most likely options are probably Openserve or Octotel.
