While the new iPhone 14 range of smartphones doesn’t see a price increase in the US or Europe, we are not as lucky in South Africa. iPhone 14 prices are about 20 percent more expensive than the equivalent iPhone 13 prices last year. Our Randellas are letting us down. Official Apple reseller in South Africa, iStore, has revealed the local pre-order pricing for the new iPhone 14 series, and it makes for difficult reading.

One of the major reasons for the massive increases in the South African pricing is the weak Rand, which is about 15 percent weaker than this time a year ago. However, the iPhone prices see even a heftier price increase as the exchange rate fluctuations would imply. South African consumers who want to get the very best of the iPhone 14 series – the Pro Max model with 1TB of storage – will need to depart with R41 499 of their hard-earned cash.
Below are all the new iPhone 14 prices, with last year’s iPhone 13 prices for the equivalent models from last year. Not that the iPhone 14 Plus is not in this line-up, as it is launching at a later date (both in the US and elsewhere).
