Dwayne Johnson powers through as Black Adam

All set for an October 21 release, DC Comic’s next blockbuster, Black Adam, is firmly upon us and today we got an official trailer to go with it. Starring the sometimes larger than life, Dwayne Johnson, the action packed trailer gives us a taste of what to expect from a character who is a tricky one to pinpoint thanks to his villain/anti-hero persona.

Excitingly, Black Adam will introduce the Justice Society of America — not to be confused with its movie predecessor and comic successor the Justice League of America — consisting of lesser known heroes such as Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan). This makes us wonder if we’ll potentially get spin-offs based on a couple of these other characters. This is something that hasn’t been uttered anywhere and is just a guess but do remember to quote us if it becomes a reality.

The synopsis of this one is pretty straightforward, as also evident in the trailer:

Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods — and imprisoned just as quickly — Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

For those that aren’t aware, Black Adam is a spin-off of Shazam!, with both characters being archenemies in the comics. Unlike its lighter, comedic predecessor, this movie seemingly has a much darker tone to it, fitting with the classic and general DC tone many of us are familiar with and love… well most of us at least.

One we’re very much looking forward to and are interested to see where it further takes the DC Universe which we have no doubt is going to reach further (and much more darker, we hope) heights.
