The iPhone 14 may be bereft of a notch

If you’ve been holding out for a notch-less iPhone, your prayers may about to be answered. In a new release from the Taiwan Economic Times, Foxconn has reportedly begun trial production of Apple’s next handset.

The report suggests that the iPhone 14 will arrive in four flavours – two premium, and two lower-end. The report suggests that the iPhone 14 and an iPhone 14 pro model will invoke a redesign reminscient of the iPhone 4 and 5, with a thicker overally chassis, no camera bump, and no notch save for a camera and microphone punch-out.

Apparently, the handset will include round volume buttons and two speaker grilles adjacent to a charging port – with little detail as yet to whether that could be USB Type C or Lightning.

Interestingly, the handset (or its premium variants) may ship without a SIM tray thanks to its use of eSIM technology.

The iPhone 14 is further expected to carry new camera upgrades, which could include a 48-megapixel Wide camera and support 8K video recording.

The handset, as usual, is expected to make landfall in September this year.
