WhatsApp will now let you preview voice notes before they’re sent

You likely either love or hate voice notes, but if you’re in the former camp, you might well value rehearsing your voice message before you hit send on a final take. If that’s the case, there’s good news for you – a new tool within WhatsApp will now enable you to preview your message before you dispatch it to its recipient.

In an update that’s now rolling out around the world, users will now have additional options once they’re finished recording a voice message. Once concluded, a user will be presented with a context screen from where they can preview their voice message by playing it.

Alternative, a user may elect to delete the voice message before it is sent – obviating the need to delete a message laden with stammers or stutters – or they may simply elect to send it.

WhatsApp has gradually worked to make several small but meaningful tweaks to its voice notes feature – perhaps the most significant of which was to enable users to toggle variable playback speeds to jet through podcast-length catchups.

The service has also confirmed that it is working to create a voice notes transcription service that can relay a voice message into text in real-time.
