First announced in January, Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service is now available on some of LG’s TVs, in beta for now. LG is rolling out the beta this week for “select 2021 LG 4K OLED, QNED Mini LED, and NanoCell TV models in 80 markets,” according to a statement from the Korean technology giant.

In case you haven’t heard of GeForce now, it lets you play PC games you own on a number of other devices via the cloud, streaming the content to a web browser or the app. It has also now released the webOS app (which is the operating system on LG TVs), which will make it possible to use the service on the big screen for the first time. It still has some limitations – the games will be capped at 60fps and 1080p resolution, not yet available in 4K.
GeForce Now has several subscription tiers, from a free one that allows play for a limited amount of time per day, up to paid memberships that unlock longer play sessions and streaming at higher resolutions and frame rates. Nvidia has said that all tiers will be supported on the webOS app. They have recently launched a new tier that lets you play your games on dedicated GeForce RTX 3080 server pods.
“LG customers are expecting the best when it comes to gaming on a large screen,” said Lee Sang-woo, senior vice president of corporate business strategy at LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “Partnering with NVIDIA to bring GeForce NOW to LG TV owners is a sign of our commitment to deliver the best gaming experience on LG TVs running webOS.”
